Kei Truck Direct was built on a single idea: owning a rugged, efficient Japanese Kei truck shouldn't be complicated. We source clean, low-mileage trucks in Japan, inspect them carefully, and handle the import and delivery so you don't have to.
We have been importing Japanese vehicles since 2011 — around fifteen years. That matters more than it sounds like it should. These are four- and five-figure purchases paid for by bank transfer, sight unseen, so who you are buying from is the whole question. We have been doing this long enough to describe a truck honestly, including the parts you would rather not hear.

What we know, how we know it, and what we will not tell you
Most of what you want from a seller of a sight-unseen, bank-transfer purchase is an answer to one question: when this company tells me something, how much weight should I put on it? So here is how we handle the parts that matter.
On the law, we quote and we attribute
Our state-by-state registration guide carries a grouped status for forty-nine states and says on every single row that it is grouped and not individually verified. One state — New York — is quoted directly from the DMV’s own page, with the link. We do not publish a per-state condition we have not read in a primary source. An admitted gap is more use to you than an invented detail, and the page carries the date it was last reviewed so you can see when it goes stale.
We publish the thing that costs us sales
We are a New York business and New York will not register these trucks for road use. That is on the front of our state guide, on this page, and on our New York page. We would rather lose a sale than take a wire transfer from someone who finds out in six weeks.
What we do not do
- We do not sell or arrange insurance. We will give you the vehicle details your carrier will ask for; the policy is between you and them, and it is worth settling before you pay.
- We do not arrange financing. Payment is by bank transfer.
- We do not help anyone register out of state. A vehicle is registered where it is legally garaged and where you reside.
- We do not describe kei trucks as “street legal in the USA.” Import is federal; road registration is your state’s decision, and ten states currently say no.
- We do not call these new vehicles. They are used Japanese imports, twenty-five years old or more, and the listing describes the wear.
