Why a Japanese Kei Truck?
A kei truck does the work of a full-size pickup on a footprint that fits down a garden path. These are roughly 11 feet long and around 1,500 pounds empty, so they slip through gates, park in a single-car space, and never chew up soft ground the way a half-ton does. The cab-over layout puts a flat bed right behind you with a fold-down tailgate and drop sides, so loading mulch, feed sacks, or a chainsaw is quick.
The 660cc engines are frugal. Most owners see 40-plus mpg puttering around a property, and parts stay cheap because Honda, Suzuki, Daihatsu, Subaru, and Mitsubishi built millions of them. Plenty of our trucks are true 4WD with a low-range transfer case and a diff lock, which is what gets you up a muddy two-track when a lawn tractor would spin out.
They are also just useful in a way modern trucks aren't. A 1990 Acty with 16,000 miles or a Sambar with under 25,000 miles has decades left if you keep the oil changed. Buy one to work, not to baby it.
How Buying an Imported Kei Truck Works
Start by browsing the inventory. Every listing is a specific truck we already have, with real mileage where it's known, the drivetrain, transmission, and an honest note on condition. When one fits, email sales@keitruckdirect.com — or call (640) 203-5504 — and we'll put a hold on it so nobody else buys it out from under you.
Payment is by bank transfer. Once it clears, the paperwork is our job, not yours. We handle the import documentation, customs clearance, and the mechanical inspection and servicing so the truck arrives sorted and ready. You get a clean, importable title in hand for registration in your state.
There's no auction bidding, no overseas middleman to chase, and no guessing what shows up. The price you agree to is the price for that truck, and we tell you upfront what registration in your state will involve.
Nationwide Door-to-Door Delivery
Delivery is free anywhere in the continental United States, insured, right to your driveway, barn, or shop. You don't need a trailer or a friend with a flatbed. Depending on where you are, most deliveries land within a couple of weeks of your payment clearing and the truck completing inspection.
We stay reachable the whole way through. Before you buy, we'll walk you through a specific truck by email and answer registration questions for your state. After it arrives, we're still here if you have a question about the diff lock, the choke, or where to source a filter. We import these for a living and we drive them ourselves.
What People Actually Use Them For
Landscapers love them because a kei truck hauls a full load of mulch or a couple of mowers, then parks on the job site without blocking a driveway. Farmers and ranchers run them fence line to fence line for feed, tools, and gates, and the 4WD models with low range keep going in mud and snow that would strand a UTV. The Minicab dump we stock, with its hydraulic bed, tips a load of gravel without a shovel.
Hunters and off-roaders take them down logging roads and food-plot trails where a full-size truck is too wide, and they're street legal in most states, so you drive to the property instead of trailering a side-by-side. Campgrounds, wineries, orchards, storage facilities, and warehouses use them as grounds trucks that sip fuel all day.
They also just make sense on private property, in a big shop, or for a small business that needs a second work vehicle without a second truck payment. Whatever the job, the point is the same: a small, cheap, honest truck that earns its keep.
Frequently Asked Questions
Under the federal 25-year rule, any vehicle 25 or more model years old can be imported and registered for road use, and most of our trucks qualify. A handful of states have their own quirks, so we'll tell you honestly how yours treats kei trucks before you buy.
Payment is by bank transfer. Email us and we'll hold the specific truck for you while the transfer is arranged; once it clears, we begin the import and delivery process.
For trucks already in the US, most door-to-door deliveries arrive within a couple of weeks of your payment clearing and the truck finishing inspection. Your exact timing depends on your distance from us, and we'll give you a realistic estimate up front.
Yes. Every truck is mechanically inspected and serviced before it goes out, and the listing tells you its real condition. These are used Japanese imports, not new vehicles, so we describe wear honestly rather than dressing it up.
Each truck comes with a clean, importable title so you can register it in your state. We'll walk you through what your state's DMV will ask for, since the process varies from state to state.
The agreed price covers the specific truck, its import paperwork and customs clearance, the pre-delivery inspection and servicing, and free insured door-to-door delivery within the continental USA. Only state registration fees are separate, and we'll spell those out before you commit.
