What the DD51B Carry Dump is
DD51B is the four-wheel-drive, factory dump-bodied Carry of the 1990s — the DD51T chassis with a hydraulically tipping bed fitted on the production line. Because the conversion is Suzuki's own, the pump, the ram and the bed hinges are engineered to the chassis rather than bolted on afterwards. The 657cc F6A three-cylinder and the selectable four-wheel drive are unchanged from the flat-bed truck.
Shown on the clock: 43,100 miles, near enough 69,400 km. Suzuki's F6A and K6A three-cylinders were produced in enormous numbers across the Carry, Every and Jimny ranges, so the model line's service history as a whole is unusually well documented.
Reading the specification
Four-wheel drive on a Carry means a selectable front axle on a truck that is otherwise rear-driven from an engine beneath the cab. Suzuki sold more of these than anyone sold of anything else in the class, which matters in a practical way: the running gear is the best-documented and best-supported in the kei segment, and the trucks turn up with the widest range of factory work options.
Mid-band pricing on a kei truck generally reflects a sound, unremarkable specification — the four-wheel-drive, five-speed, flat-bed combination that the majority of buyers are looking for in the first place.
