U62T Minicab: the short version

The U62T is the four-wheel-drive Minicab truck of 1999 onwards, built to the post-1998 kei standard and produced for a decade and a half. Mitsubishi kept the 657cc 3G83 three-cylinder and added fuel injection, and continued to offer a low-range transfer case and power-take-off provision on work specifications. Nissan sold the same truck as the Clipper throughout this run.

Recorded at 49,602 miles, which is about 79,800 km. Mitsubishi's 3G83 three-cylinder ran in the Minicab for more than twenty years across two chassis generations, so it is a thoroughly proven unit in this application.

What it is for

The 2Hi-4Hi-4Lo marking on a Minicab means a two-speed transfer case: high range for the road, low range for pulling. Low range multiplies engine torque through a second reduction, which is what lets a 660cc truck move a loaded bed up a slope at walking pace without slipping the clutch. Mitsubishi fitted this to the work specifications, often alongside a factory power-take-off.

The $12,000 to $20,000 band is where specialist kei trucks sit — low-range transfer cases, locking differentials, factory work bodies, late chassis and genuinely low readings. These are not volume trucks and they do not come up often.
