The Midget II, in context
The Midget II is one of the strangest things Daihatsu ever put into production: a single-seat micro pickup, built from 1996, deliberately styled after the three-wheeled Midget of the 1950s. It uses the 659cc EF three-cylinder and a kei-class chassis, but the body is barely wider than the driver. Daihatsu sold them to Japanese city traders and built relatively few.
Odometer at 53,800 miles, call it 86,600 km. Daihatsu kei vehicles of this period arrive across a wide band of readings, and this one falls in the middle of it.
What you are buying
Rear-wheel drive is the standard configuration for Daihatsu's kei commercials and the one most of them were built in. Without a front axle and transfer case there is less to service, less to go wrong and slightly less weight to carry around, which on a vehicle with a 660cc engine is not nothing. For sealed surfaces — a yard, an estate road, a campus, a market — it is all the drivetrain the job needs.
Rather than list a figure, we quote this one when you ask. That way the number you get already includes getting the truck to your address, which is the part most online prices leave out.
Next steps
At 1996 it is past the 25-year mark, which is the line that decides whether a Japanese-market vehicle can be imported at all. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. A walkaround video is included with this listing.
