Background on the KS4 Sambar
KS4 denotes the selectable four-wheel-drive version of Subaru's fifth-generation Sambar, produced from 1990 until 1999. Its 658cc EN07 is an inline-four — unique in a class of three-cylinders — and it sits behind the rear axle under the bed floor, which puts the engine's mass where a kei truck most needs it. Subaru offered the EN07 in carburetted, fuel-injected and supercharged forms across the range.
It shows 72,300 miles on a gauge originally calibrated in kilometres, which puts it near 116,400 km. That sits in the middle of the band Sambars of this generation generally arrive at.
Putting it to work
A four-wheel-drive Sambar is traction-biased before the front axle is even engaged, because Subaru put the engine behind the rear wheels. The rear tyres carry the engine's weight permanently, which is the thing Sambar owners single the truck out for — an empty kei truck bed is light, and the Sambar is the one that minds it least.

How to take it
With a 1997 build year it clears the 25-year rule that applies to importing vehicles never sold new in the US. The paperwork side — import documentation and title — is our job, and we deliver anywhere in the US. This listing carries a walkaround video as well as the gallery. Pricing on this vehicle is quoted per enquiry; tell us where it is going and we will come back to you.
