KS3 Sambar: the short version
KS3 is the rear-drive Sambar truck of 1990 to 1999 — and rear drive here is literal, because Subaru hung the engine behind the rear axle rather than putting it under the cab. The engine itself is the one thing no other kei truck had: the EN07, a 658cc inline *four*, where every rival used three cylinders. Weight over the driven axle and four smaller pistons are the two reasons Sambar owners talk about these the way they do.
It shows 54,200 miles on a gauge originally calibrated in kilometres, which puts it near 87,200 km. That sits in the middle of the band Sambars of this generation generally arrive at.
The configuration
A two-wheel-drive Sambar is rear-engined and rear-driven, which is a genuinely unusual thing to say about a pickup. The whole engine assembly sits behind the rear axle, directly above and behind the driven wheels, so the configuration carries a traction advantage that most two-wheel-drive trucks of any size simply do not have.

Paperwork and shipping
At 1998 it is past the 25-year mark, which is the line that decides whether a Japanese-market vehicle can be imported at all. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. There is a walkaround video on this listing alongside the photographs. Ask us for a price and include your delivery state; we will quote the vehicle and the transport together.
