What the TT1 Sambar is
TT1 is the rear-drive truck from the sixth-generation Sambar, launched in 1999 and the first Sambar drawn to the new 3.40-metre kei standard. Subaru carried the rear-mounted EN07 four-cylinder straight across from the previous car and kept building it this way until 2012, when the nameplate became a rebadged Daihatsu. That makes the TT series the last of the genuinely Subaru-engineered kei trucks.
Odometer: 48,900 miles, approximately 78,700 km. Subaru's EN07 is a 658cc inline-four rather than a triple, so it turns over with four smaller reciprocating masses than anything else in the class, and the model's surviving population covers a wide span of readings.
What the specification means
A two-wheel-drive Sambar is rear-engined and rear-driven, which is a genuinely unusual thing to say about a pickup. The whole engine assembly sits behind the rear axle, directly above and behind the driven wheels, so the configuration carries a traction advantage that most two-wheel-drive trucks of any size simply do not have.
Under $5,000 is the entry point for an imported kei truck in the United States, and it generally means an older vehicle with a higher reading on the clock rather than a compromised one. Our kei truck price guide sets out what separates the bands.
To proceed
Because it was built in 1999, the federal 25-year exemption applies and the usual FMVSS and EPA conformity requirements fall away. We take care of the entry documents and the title, then arrange shipping to wherever you are. A walkaround video is included with this listing. Priced at $4,430; message us and we will hold it for you.
