About This 1999 Daihatsu Hijet
Out of Japan and into our US warehouse: a 1999 Daihatsu Hijet Truck, recorded as Gray. Listed as 2WD, driving through a 5-speed manual transmission. The chassis plate reads S200P-0006686.
Where the S200-series Hijet fits
The S200 codes are the rear-drive Hijets of 1999 to 2004, the first drawn to the enlarged kei standard. Daihatsu moved the range to the twin-cam, 12-valve EF-VE version of its 659cc three-cylinder with fuel injection, which was a real step in refinement over the single-cam engine before it. The Jumbo extended cab, which steals a little bed length to give the driver a reclining seat, belongs to this generation.
Six figures, at 137,000 miles or approximately 220,500 km. Daihatsu designed the 659cc EF and the later KF as working engines for a vehicle sold almost entirely to trades and farms.

The practical side
Rear-wheel drive is the standard configuration for Daihatsu's kei commercials and the one most of them were built in. Without a front axle and transfer case there is less to service, less to go wrong and slightly less weight to carry around, which on a vehicle with a 660cc engine is not nothing. For sealed surfaces — a yard, an estate road, a campus, a market — it is all the drivetrain the job needs.
This sits in the cheapest band of the market. At this level a 1999 Daihatsu Hijet Truck is competing with used garden machinery and utility vehicles on price while offering a cab, a heater and a licence plate, which is the argument most buyers at this end are making.
Paperwork and shipping
With a 1999 build year it clears the 25-year rule that applies to importing vehicles never sold new in the US. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. There is a walkaround video on this listing alongside the photographs. Asking $4,700. Contact us and we will reserve it against your name.
