The KS4 Sambar explained
KS4 denotes the selectable four-wheel-drive version of Subaru's fifth-generation Sambar, produced from 1990 until 1999. Its 658cc EN07 is an inline-four — unique in a class of three-cylinders — and it sits behind the rear axle under the bed floor, which puts the engine's mass where a kei truck most needs it. Subaru offered the EN07 in carburetted, fuel-injected and supercharged forms across the range.
Odometer: 38,250 miles, approximately 61,600 km. Subaru's EN07 is a 658cc inline-four rather than a triple, so it turns over with four smaller reciprocating masses than anything else in the class, and the model's surviving population covers a wide span of readings.
Reading the specification
The Sambar's layout does the heavy lifting here regardless of how the front axle is specified: a 658cc four-cylinder mounted behind the rear wheels, a completely flat bed floor with no drivetrain running beneath it, and a weight distribution that no other kei truck shares. Subaru kept that arrangement for decades after everybody else had abandoned it.
At this level a 1995 Subaru Sambar is priced above the volume band, which in this market normally reflects a later generation, an unusual drivetrain specification, or factory equipment that did not come as standard.
How the purchase works
Because it was built in 1995, the federal 25-year exemption applies and the usual FMVSS and EPA conformity requirements fall away. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. It is listed at $9,104. Get in touch to put a hold on it.
