About This 1996 Subaru Sambar
Here is a 1996 Subaru Sambar Truck, recorded as White, imported from Japan and available to buy now. Drive is 2WD, through a 5-speed manual transmission. It carries the chassis number KS3-119617.
The KS3 Sambar explained
KS3 is the rear-drive Sambar truck of 1990 to 1999 — and rear drive here is literal, because Subaru hung the engine behind the rear axle rather than putting it under the cab. The engine itself is the one thing no other kei truck had: the EN07, a 658cc inline *four*, where every rival used three cylinders. Weight over the driven axle and four smaller pistons are the two reasons Sambar owners talk about these the way they do.
The recorded reading is 81,700 miles — somewhere around 131,500 km. Subaru built the rear-mounted EN07 for the commercial duty cycle these vehicles were sold into, and high five-figure readings are the norm rather than the exception.

Why this configuration
A two-wheel-drive Sambar is rear-engined and rear-driven, which is a genuinely unusual thing to say about a pickup. The whole engine assembly sits behind the rear axle, directly above and behind the driven wheels, so the configuration carries a traction advantage that most two-wheel-drive trucks of any size simply do not have.
We quote this truck individually. Where it has to travel is the single biggest swing on the final figure, so the honest thing is to ask for your delivery address first and give you one number afterwards.
The buying process
Built in 1996, it sits the far side of the 25-year federal import cut-off. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. A walkaround clip sits with the photographs on this page. We price this one on request — get in touch and we will send a quote.
