The KS4 Sambar explained
KS4 denotes the selectable four-wheel-drive version of Subaru's fifth-generation Sambar, produced from 1990 until 1999. Its 658cc EN07 is an inline-four — unique in a class of three-cylinders — and it sits behind the rear axle under the bed floor, which puts the engine's mass where a kei truck most needs it. Subaru offered the EN07 in carburetted, fuel-injected and supercharged forms across the range.
Odometer: 47,900 miles, approximately 77,100 km. Subaru's EN07 is a 658cc inline-four rather than a triple, so it turns over with four smaller reciprocating masses than anything else in the class, and the model's surviving population covers a wide span of readings.
What the specification means
A four-wheel-drive Sambar is traction-biased before the front axle is even engaged, because Subaru put the engine behind the rear wheels. The rear tyres carry the engine's weight permanently, which is the thing Sambar owners single the truck out for — an empty kei truck bed is light, and the Sambar is the one that minds it least.
This one is priced on enquiry rather than listed. Freight to your state is the main variable on a kei truck and we would rather quote it properly than publish a figure that turns out to exclude it — tell us where it is going and we will come back with the number.
