The HH5 Acty Van explained

HH5 is the rear-drive van from the Acty generation that arrived in 1999. It carries the fuel-injected 656cc E07Z under the rear load floor and was drawn to the post-1998 kei dimensions, so it is both longer and wider than the HH3 van it replaced. The additional width shows mostly in the rear door aperture, which is the measurement that matters on a van of this size.

The clock shows 72,500 miles — call it 116,700 km, since the instrument was marked in kilometres when it left Japan. That is mid-range for a Honda kei vehicle of this era arriving in the United States.

In use

An Acty van is the truck with a roof over the load bay, and because the engine lies beneath that bay rather than under the cab, the floor is flat from bulkhead to tailgate. Rear drive and an enclosed body make it a dry, lockable, square box on a vehicle you can park anywhere — which is the entire case for a kei van over a kei truck.
