About This 2001 Subaru Sambar
Out of Japan and into our US warehouse: a 2001 Subaru Sambar Truck — the paint is down as Blue. On the paperwork it is 4WD with a 5-speed manual box. Chassis number TT2-094096.
A little context on the TT2 Sambar
The TT2 is the four-wheel-drive version of the last Sambar truck Subaru designed itself, built from 1999 to 2012 with the 658cc EN07 four still mounted behind the rear axle. Fuel injection was standard across this generation and a supercharged EN07 was offered in the range. Because Subaru switched the Sambar to a Daihatsu platform afterwards, the TT2 is the final four-cylinder, rear-engined kei truck anyone built.
Odometer: 28,600 miles, approximately 46,000 km. Subaru's EN07 is a 658cc inline-four rather than a triple, so it turns over with four smaller reciprocating masses than anything else in the class, and the model's surviving population covers a wide span of readings.

The practical side
A four-wheel-drive Sambar is traction-biased before the front axle is even engaged, because Subaru put the engine behind the rear wheels. The rear tyres carry the engine's weight permanently, which is the thing Sambar owners single the truck out for — an empty kei truck bed is light, and the Sambar is the one that minds it least.

Paperwork and shipping
At 2001 it is past the 25-year mark, which is the line that decides whether a Japanese-market vehicle can be imported at all. You do not deal with the import paperwork; we do, and we organise delivery to your address. A walkaround video is included with this listing. We price this one on request — get in touch and we will send a quote.
