About the KS4 Sambar
KS4 denotes the selectable four-wheel-drive version of Subaru's fifth-generation Sambar, produced from 1990 until 1999. Its 658cc EN07 is an inline-four — unique in a class of three-cylinders — and it sits behind the rear axle under the bed floor, which puts the engine's mass where a kei truck most needs it. Subaru offered the EN07 in carburetted, fuel-injected and supercharged forms across the range.
The gauge reads 24,918 miles, or about 40,100 km as it was marked from the factory — a low figure by the standards of the Sambar's Japanese working life.
Why this configuration
The Sambar's layout does the heavy lifting here regardless of how the front axle is specified: a 658cc four-cylinder mounted behind the rear wheels, a completely flat bed floor with no drivetrain running beneath it, and a weight distribution that no other kei truck shares. Subaru kept that arrangement for decades after everybody else had abandoned it.
Between $8,000 and $12,000 the market moves from ordinary trucks to better ones: later chassis, lower readings, fuel injection, air conditioning, or a factory option that is hard to find. The step up from the mid band is usually specification rather than condition.
How the purchase works
The 1995 build year puts it outside the 25-year window that restricts importing vehicles built to a foreign specification. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. It is listed at $11,900. Get in touch to put a hold on it.
