Overview

About This 1997 Subaru Sambar

We are offering this 1997 Subaru Sambar Van, wearing Gold from inventory already in the States. This is the 4WD version, with a 5-speed manual transmission. Chassis number KV4-170775.

Background on the KV4 Sambar Van

The KV4 is the four-wheel-drive Sambar van of the 1990s. Subaru's rear engine placement is more noticeable in the van than the truck, because the enclosed body puts the whole cargo area in front of the engine rather than over it. The 658cc EN07 four-cylinder is shared with the KS-series trucks, and Dias versions of this van were offered with a supercharger.

The recorded reading is 88,500 miles — somewhere around 142,400 km. Subaru built the rear-mounted EN07 for the commercial duty cycle these vehicles were sold into, and high five-figure readings are the norm rather than the exception.

Why this configuration

Four-wheel drive under a van body is the specification for people who need the load bay dry and the vehicle capable of leaving a made road. The front axle is selectable from the cab, and the enclosed body adds nothing to the drivetrain's job beyond a little weight and a great deal of security.

The $5,000 to $8,000 band is the heart of the imported van market. For a working vehicle that has to keep tools dry and out of sight, it is the point where supply and specification meet.

To proceed

The 1997 build year puts it outside the 25-year window that restricts importing vehicles built to a foreign specification. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. This listing carries a walkaround video as well as the gallery. Asking $5,950.
