A little context on the U42T Minicab
U42T is the four-wheel-drive Minicab truck Mitsubishi built from 1991 to 1998, with the 657cc 3G83 three-cylinder beneath the cab. Work specifications of this chassis were offered with a two-speed transfer case and a crawler gear, and the Minicab was one of the few kei trucks sold with a factory power-take-off for driving a tipper or a pump. Mitsubishi also supplied this generation to Nissan as the Clipper.
The clock reads 58,600 miles, roughly 94,300 km on the scale it was built with. Mitsubishi kei vehicles of this era turn up across a broad range of readings and this is squarely within it.
Putting it to work
A 4WD Minicab is a conventional cab-over kei truck with the front axle available on demand. What distinguishes the line is the hardware Mitsubishi offered around it — crawler gears, power-take-off provision and dump bodies fitted on the production line rather than by a converter afterwards.
Under $5,000 is the entry point for an imported kei truck in the United States, and it generally means an older vehicle with a higher reading on the clock rather than a compromised one. Our kei truck price guide sets out what separates the bands.
Next steps
A 1998 build date places this vehicle beyond the 25-year threshold that governs importing a non-US-market car into the United States. Customs entry, import documentation and title work are all done here, and we arrange transport to any state. A walkaround clip sits with the photographs on this page.
