Background on the U42T Minicab
U42T is the four-wheel-drive Minicab truck Mitsubishi built from 1991 to 1998, with the 657cc 3G83 three-cylinder beneath the cab. Work specifications of this chassis were offered with a two-speed transfer case and a crawler gear, and the Minicab was one of the few kei trucks sold with a factory power-take-off for driving a tipper or a pump. Mitsubishi also supplied this generation to Nissan as the Clipper.
The odometer sits at 23,600 miles, in the order of 38,000 km in the original units — a modest figure for a Mitsubishi kei vehicle returning from Japanese service.
Putting it to work
A 4WD Minicab is a conventional cab-over kei truck with the front axle available on demand. What distinguishes the line is the hardware Mitsubishi offered around it — crawler gears, power-take-off provision and dump bodies fitted on the production line rather than by a converter afterwards.
Under $5,000 is the entry point for an imported kei truck in the United States, and it generally means an older vehicle with a higher reading on the clock rather than a compromised one. Our kei truck price guide sets out what separates the bands.
How the purchase works
The 1998 build year puts it outside the 25-year window that restricts importing vehicles built to a foreign specification. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. A walkaround video is included with this listing. It is listed at $4,770. Get in touch to put a hold on it.
