The Jimny explained

The Jimny is the only genuine off-roader built to kei dimensions: a separate ladder frame, live axles front and rear, part-time four-wheel drive and a two-speed transfer case with a real low range. Suzuki has built that recipe without interruption since 1970. The 1990s cars moved from leaf to coil springs partway through the decade and from the F6A to the twin-cam K6A.

Why this configuration
