Background on the S200-series Hijet
The S200 codes are the rear-drive Hijets of 1999 to 2004, the first drawn to the enlarged kei standard. Daihatsu moved the range to the twin-cam, 12-valve EF-VE version of its 659cc three-cylinder with fuel injection, which was a real step in refinement over the single-cam engine before it. The Jumbo extended cab, which steals a little bed length to give the driver a reclining seat, belongs to this generation.
The gauge shows 90,000 miles, around 144,800 km. Daihatsu has been building kei commercials since the 1950s, overwhelmingly for working owners, and readings in this range are a normal part of that history.
The practical side
The Hijet's strength is the breadth of what Daihatsu built on the chassis. The same cab-over truck left the factory as a flat bed, a tipper, a scissor lift, a mobile kitchen and a dozen other things, all engineered around a 660cc engine under the cab floor and a frame rated for the kei class payload.
This is the middle of the kei truck market. A 1999 Daihatsu Hijet at this money is the ordinary working configuration rather than a specialist one: a straight bed, a common chassis, and the parts supply that comes with a model sold in volume.
To proceed
A 1999 build date places this vehicle beyond the 25-year threshold that governs importing a non-US-market car into the United States. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. It is listed at $5,544. Get in touch to put a hold on it.
