The Sambar explained
The Sambar generation Subaru launched in 1999 was the last one the company engineered itself — after 2012 the nameplate became a rebadged Daihatsu. It kept the rear-mounted 658cc EN07 four-cylinder and gained the wider post-1998 kei body. These are the final four-cylinder, rear-engined kei trucks and vans anyone built.
The recorded reading is 83,413 miles — somewhere around 134,200 km. Subaru built the rear-mounted EN07 for the commercial duty cycle these vehicles were sold into, and high five-figure readings are the norm rather than the exception.

What you are buying
A four-wheel-drive kei van is a small, dry, lockable load box that will still leave a sealed road. The engine sits under the cab floor in the usual kei arrangement and the front axle is selected from inside, so the van drives as a rear-driver until it needs not to. Within the class this is the most practical all-weather configuration there is.
The bottom band for a kei van buys an older enclosed commercial on a 3.4-metre footprint — the cheapest way into a vehicle that locks, keeps the weather off and still parks anywhere.
