What the Hijet is
Daihatsu has built the Hijet continuously since 1960, and the 1990s trucks use the 659cc EF three-cylinder beneath a cab-over body. What sets the Hijet apart from its rivals is the sheer number of factory configurations: flat bed, panel van, deck van, hydraulic tipper, scissor lift, power-take-off and more all came down the same line. Work specifications were offered with a low-range transfer case and a locking rear differential.
No mileage figure is held against this vehicle in our records, so none is stated. We are happy to check the instrument and report back.
How this one is set up
A front-driven kei commercial is an unusual specification in a class that overwhelmingly drives its rear wheels. It keeps the drivetrain entirely at one end of the vehicle, which frees the floor behind the cab completely.
Between $8,000 and $12,000 the market moves from ordinary trucks to better ones: later chassis, lower readings, fuel injection, air conditioning, or a factory option that is hard to find. The step up from the mid band is usually specification rather than condition.
The buying process
The 1992 build year puts it outside the 25-year window that restricts importing vehicles built to a foreign specification. You do not deal with the import paperwork; we do, and we organise delivery to your address. Asking $8,127. Contact us and we will reserve it against your name.
