A little context on the HM1 Vamos
The Vamos is the passenger-trimmed member of the Acty family, and HM1 is the front-wheel-free, rear-drive version built from 1999. It keeps the Acty's mid-mounted 656cc E07Z and adds proper seating, carpet and glass in place of a cargo bay. Honda positioned it as a small recreational van rather than a commercial, which is why so many left the factory with higher trim levels than any Acty van.
This one reads 93,800 miles, about 151,000 km. Honda built the mid-mounted E07 engine for commercial use rather than for a passenger car, and figures in the high five digits are routine across the generation.
What the specification means
An Acty van is the truck with a roof over the load bay, and because the engine lies beneath that bay rather than under the cab, the floor is flat from bulkhead to tailgate. Rear drive and an enclosed body make it a dry, lockable, square box on a vehicle you can park anywhere — which is the entire case for a kei van over a kei truck.
The $5,000 to $8,000 band is the heart of the imported van market. For a working vehicle that has to keep tools dry and out of sight, it is the point where supply and specification meet.
