Where the Carry fits
The Carry Suzuki introduced in 1999 was built to the enlarged kei dimensions and moved the 657cc engine to fuel injection. The cab grew in both directions over the truck it replaced, which on a vehicle capped at 3.40 metres overall is the difference buyers actually notice. Work specifications continued with low-range transfer cases and locking rear differentials.
Odometer reading 53,000 miles, about 85,300 km. For a 660cc Suzuki commercial engine that is an unremarkable figure within the range these vehicles are exported at.
Why this configuration
Four-wheel drive on a Carry means a selectable front axle on a truck that is otherwise rear-driven from an engine beneath the cab. Suzuki sold more of these than anyone sold of anything else in the class, which matters in a practical way: the running gear is the best-documented and best-supported in the kei segment, and the trucks turn up with the widest range of factory work options.
At this level a 1999 Suzuki Carry is priced above the volume band, which in this market normally reflects a later generation, an unusual drivetrain specification, or factory equipment that did not come as standard.
