A little context on the BE5 Legacy B4
BE5 is the saloon version of the third-generation Subaru Legacy, sold in Japan as the B4. The twin-turbocharged 2.0-litre EJ20 in these cars uses two turbochargers in sequence rather than in parallel — a small one for low speeds handing over to a larger one — and drives all four wheels. The Blitzen versions were limited-run cars styled in conjunction with Porsche's design studio.
The clock has passed six figures at 101,678 miles, about 163,600 km. Japan's shaken inspection regime means vehicles of this age in the domestic market have been presented for testing on a fixed cycle throughout their lives.
In use
Japanese-market saloons and coupes of this period were built to a domestic specification that never crossed to North America: different engines, different trim, different equipment, and in many cases a model that was simply never offered elsewhere. That is the reason to import one rather than buy a local equivalent — there is no local equivalent.
This band covers the JDM cars people import on purpose rather than by accident: turbocharged, rear-driven or four-wheel-drive specifications that were sold in Japan only, now past the 25-year threshold.
To proceed
With a 2000 build year it clears the 25-year rule that applies to importing vehicles never sold new in the US. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. The figure is $14,995, and a message is all it takes to put it aside.
