Background on the HA4 Acty
Built from 1990 until the Acty was redesigned in 1999, the HA4 pairs four-wheel drive with Honda's 656cc E07A triple, mounted under the load floor instead of under the seats. Honda engineered the whole second generation to the 3.30-metre kei length limit in force at the time, so the cab is pushed right to the front bumper. That packaging is the reason an Acty bed is usable at all on a vehicle this short.
Recorded mileage is 48,300, equivalent to roughly 77,700 km in the units the gauge reads. Honda's E07-series triples are small-capacity commercial engines designed for a long duty cycle, and readings in this part of the range are common across the Acty's export population.
Why this configuration
Four-wheel drive on a mid-engined Acty is an unusual arrangement and it has a practical consequence: the engine's mass already sits over the rear axle, and anything loaded into the bed sits on top of it. Weight goes where the traction is before the front axle is ever called on. The flat bed floor is a second consequence of the same layout, since there is no propshaft tunnel running under it.
