What the HA4 Acty is
HA4 is the four-wheel-drive Acty truck of 1990 to 1999 and the most numerous Acty on the US market. Honda put the 656cc E07A under the bed, nearly flat, and ran drive forward to the front axle from behind it — the opposite of almost everything else in the class. The result handles like a mid-engined vehicle, carries its load directly over the driven rear wheels, and keeps a completely flat deck floor because nothing is in the way of it.
This one reads 78,100 miles, about 125,700 km. Honda built the mid-mounted E07 engine for commercial use rather than for a passenger car, and figures in the high five digits are routine across the generation.
The configuration
A rear-drive Acty is the simplest version of an already simple truck: engine amidships under the bed, drive straight back to the rear wheels, no transfer case and no front driveshafts to maintain. Because the engine sits over the driven axle, it starts from a better traction position than a front-engined two-wheel-drive pickup does, and the bed floor is lower for having nothing beneath it.
This sits in the cheapest band of the market. At this level a 1995 Honda Acty Truck is competing with used garden machinery and utility vehicles on price while offering a cab, a heater and a licence plate, which is the argument most buyers at this end are making.
Ordering and delivery
At 1995 it is past the 25-year mark, which is the line that decides whether a Japanese-market vehicle can be imported at all. The paperwork side — import documentation and title — is our job, and we deliver anywhere in the US. This listing carries a walkaround video as well as the gallery.
