HA4 Acty: the short version
The HA4 is the 4WD member of Honda's second-generation Acty family, produced through the 1990s alongside the rear-drive HA3. Its 656cc E07A sits amidships and horizontal, which is why the bed is low and the cab has no engine tunnel. Honda used a part-time system on most HA4s, selected from the cab, so the truck runs in rear drive until the front axle is called on. Mechanically it is a simple, well-documented truck with wide parts support.
The clock shows 65,300 miles — call it 105,100 km, since the instrument was marked in kilometres when it left Japan. That is mid-range for a Honda kei vehicle of this era arriving in the United States.
The practical side
What a 4WD Acty gives you over the two-wheel-drive version is a front axle you can bring in when the surface stops cooperating — wet grass, loose gravel, a muddy field gate. The rest of the truck is unchanged: the same mid-mounted engine beneath the bed, the same low flat deck, the same cab that starts at the front bumper.
Under $5,000 is the entry point for an imported kei truck in the United States, and it generally means an older vehicle with a higher reading on the clock rather than a compromised one. Our kei truck price guide sets out what separates the bands.
Making it yours
At 1997 it is past the 25-year mark, which is the line that decides whether a Japanese-market vehicle can be imported at all. Import documentation and titling are handled at our end, and we ship nationwide. This listing carries a walkaround video as well as the gallery. Listed at $4,280 — tell us it is the one and we will take it off the market.
