Where the RPS13 180SX fits
RPS13 is the later 180SX, the pop-up-headlight fastback Nissan sold in Japan alongside the notchback Silvia on the same floorpan. The RPS prefix marks the cars fitted with the turbocharged 2.0-litre SR20DET driving the rear wheels. Nissan kept the 180SX in production for years after the Silvia had moved on, which is why its codes and its sister car's do not line up.
The clock has passed six figures at 107,152 miles, about 172,400 km. Japan's shaken inspection regime means vehicles of this age in the domestic market have been presented for testing on a fixed cycle throughout their lives.
In use
Japanese-market saloons and coupes of this period were built to a domestic specification that never crossed to North America: different engines, different trim, different equipment, and in many cases a model that was simply never offered elsewhere. That is the reason to import one rather than buy a local equivalent — there is no local equivalent.
Above $20,000 a Japanese-market car is being bought as the specific thing it is — a named specification, a limited run, or a drivetrain that never crossed the Pacific. Values at this level are set by scarcity rather than by transport utility.
Ordering and delivery
The 1997 build year puts it outside the 25-year window that restricts importing vehicles built to a foreign specification. We handle the import and title paperwork, and delivery is available to all fifty states. Priced at $32,995; message us and we will hold it for you.
