Background on the Hijet LD Dump
Daihatsu's present Hijet runs the 658cc KF twin-cam triple and is built on the S500 platform, which moved the engine forward of the cab rather than under the seats. The result is a kei truck with a conventional bonnet line, modern restraint systems and the same 3.40-metre overall length the class has had since 1998. Factory body options still run from flat bed to hydraulic tipper.
No mileage figure is held against this vehicle in our records, so none is stated. We are happy to check the instrument and report back.
Why this configuration
A hydraulic tipper changes what the vehicle is for. Instead of shovelling a load out of a fixed bed you raise the deck and let gravity do it, which turns a two-person job into a one-person one. Daihatsu built these on the production line rather than leaving them to converters, so the pump, ram and bed hinges are matched to the chassis, and the four-wheel drive gets the loaded truck to where the load is needed.
This is a current-production tipper bought new rather than a used import, which is where the figure comes from. Factory hydraulics on a new chassis, with delivery mileage, sit at the top of what this class costs.
