HA4 Acty: the short version
The HA4 is the 4WD member of Honda's second-generation Acty family, produced through the 1990s alongside the rear-drive HA3. Its 656cc E07A sits amidships and horizontal, which is why the bed is low and the cab has no engine tunnel. Honda used a part-time system on most HA4s, selected from the cab, so the truck runs in rear drive until the front axle is called on. Mechanically it is a simple, well-documented truck with wide parts support.
The clock shows 68,422 miles — call it 110,100 km, since the instrument was marked in kilometres when it left Japan. That is mid-range for a Honda kei vehicle of this era arriving in the United States.
What you are buying
Whatever the drive configuration, the Acty's defining layout is the same: the engine lies flat beneath the load bed, between the axles, rather than under the cab or ahead of it. That is why the deck floor is low, why the cab has no engine hump, and why the truck turns in like something considerably more expensive than a 660cc commercial.
The $12,000 to $20,000 band is where specialist kei trucks sit — low-range transfer cases, locking differentials, factory work bodies, late chassis and genuinely low readings. These are not volume trucks and they do not come up often.
